Men's Soccer UCSB vs. UC Davis
In what should have been a manageable match UCSB dropped a second game in a row (1-0). This is a very dangerous position to be put into and there aren't really any excuses for it. While Ema may have the talent and capabilities to play the game it should be noted that his position seems to change in every match. In addition to this, Sarle has quit the team by personal choice and is no longer available to help provide leadership. While Davis has not been exceptionally better than usual UCSB has been on a downward spiral since conference play has begun. This may be due to having such a weak schedule of preparation and it really shows. With Campion out of the games it's nearly impossible to get anyone to bury the shots and it's rather disappointing. Where are the skills which were so hyped up during those easy matchups in the preseason? Why is it that our best shots on frame are coming from defender Peter Mcglynn? It can be pushed on the fact that UCSB has four starters being injured but that's not really the case, the truth is that without those starters there isn't enough depth to win matches, there is just enough depth to put up a respectable fight and not lose by a margin of 3+. Hopefully the starters come back in soon and perhaps turn things around but things aren't looking too positive right now and there isn't much hope for an exceptional year (i.e. winning the NCAA tournament) but let this just be a taunt for whichever UCSB player is reading this as I hope they prove me wrong.
