Once again women's volleyball fans here in Hawaii are ecstatic for another great season. With a preseason no. 8 national ranking, the Wahine are going to try to hit the ground running even without former All-American Kanani Danielson(graduated) and Brittany Hewitt(left for personal reasons).
They return to the Stan Sheriff Center with the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational from August 24-26. Their opening game is with Albany on Friday Aug. 24 at 7pm HST. They will then play St. Mary's on Saturday Aug. 25 at 7pm and then finish the tournament with a potential championship game against sixth-ranked Stanford on Sunday Aug. 26 at 5pm.
The Rainbow Wahine will be loaded with talent again with returning starters: Second team All-American outside hitter Emily Hartong(Los Alamitos,CA) along with all conference players outside hitte Jane Croson(Lakewood,CA) and setter Mita Uiato(Long Beach,CA).
There will also be newcomers:Alyssa Longo, libero transfer from Penn State and Ashley Kastl, outside hitter transfer from Arizona St. They both started for their team last year.
