After a not-so-great appearance in the road race (finished 36th), Amber Neben finished her 2012 Olympic competition with a respectable 7th place in the individual time trials. Her final time of 38:45.17 missed out of a medal by less than a minute. If a minute seems like a lot, it's because although it is, the specific restrictions on time trial competitions make that number much closer in reality. The closest she got was ranked 5th after the first split, but then time, quite literally got the best of her in the end. Boise's own and Neben's teammate,
(though not Boise State's own) Kristin Armstrong defended her Beijing Gold with a second gold in the event this time around, becoming the oldest rider to win a gold in the sport. Congratulations to both of these riders, and to team USA for another great showing in cycling.
